Yala Safari Tour FAQ

Yala has the world's highest density of leopards. You can also spot Sri Lankan elephants, sloth bears, water buffalos, crocodiles, peacocks, and over 200 bird species. A Blue Waves jeep safari gives you the best chance of sightings.

Yala is approximately 300 km from Colombo and takes about 5-6 hours by private car. It is ideally combined with a southern coast tour stopping at Galle and Mirissa.

February to July is best for Yala safaris when water levels are low and wildlife congregates near waterholes. The park closes in September each year for maintenance.
